Southeast University Held the 4th Meeting of the Leading Team for COVID-19 Prevention and Control and Emergency Disposal

[Southeast University News Network, Feb. 26] (Correspondent: Dong Xuan, Photographer: Mei Zhenyu) On the morning of Feb. 25, Southeast University held the Fourth Meeting of the Leading Team for COVID-19 Prevention and Control and Emergency Disposal. In the meeting, the participants listened to the reports on the modest adjustment of the campus management and control measures, the work plan prepared by the school’s epidemic prevention and control supervision team, and the online teaching on the first day, etc.; besides, they further studied and deployed work for the next stage. Zuo Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, President Zhang Guangjun, Managing Vice President Wang Baoping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Zheng Jiamao and Ren Lijian, Vice President Ding Hui, Huang Dawei, Jin Baosheng and Liu Pan, Li Xin, Chairman of the LaborUnion, President Assistant Liu Naifeng and Ren Zuping were present in the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Managing Vice President Wang Baoping. Principals from relevant departments of the school attended the meeting.

In the meeting, the participants studied the notice released by the leading team for the epidemic prevention and control and emergency disposal (No. 2), and decided to adjust the campus control measures appropriately based on the trend of the epidemic situation while in combination with the school’s reality, allowing partial faculties who are indeed requested to enter the campus for teaching, scientific research, management and service. However, such faculties who have to enter the campus must be in good health and have been quarantined at home in Nanjing for 14 days in full, be capable of driving or walking to school to ensure the campus safety. The leading cadres, division chief or above of the institutions and directly-affiliated units, can enter the campus for work, and one person of each section of the institutions and directly-affiliated units is allowed to enter the campus. It is allowed that all colleges (departments) and school-running enterprises may approve no more than 15% registered staff and employees (including the school’s mid-level cadres) to enter the campus every day. All the units, when arranging faculty and staff to enter the campus, should take full consideration of no gathering, and not arrange several people to work in the same office or laboratory. As pointed out in the meeting, the faculty and staff who applied to enter the campus for work should apply via the campus access approval system one day in advance for approval by the unit concerned. Each unit shall confirm a comrade in charge of approval, which shall be laterreported to the Party Committee Office and the President Office for backup. In case of special circumstance of entering the campus urgently without prior approval, the unit concerned shall notify Vice Secretary Zheng Jiamao for approval.

As emphasized in the meeting, all the units concerned shall adopt various protective measures in strict accordance with the requirements, try not to leave the school and no gathering as much as possible, and sterilize the office in a timely manner. Based on the principle of economic use, each unit may apply with the school’s working team for epidemic prevention and control supplies support for masks and disinfectants, etc. according to the actual demands of the office staff who have to enter the campus on the weekly basis. Upon confirmation of the variety and quantity of the said supplies by the working team for supplies support, the school hospital will make distribution in a unified manner and the way of allocation shall be formulated by the working team for supplies support. As requested in the meeting, a school leader will be arranged on duty every day before the official start of the school; all functional departments, the directly-affiliated units, and colleges (departments) shall continue to implement thevacation duty system with a leader on duty every day to guarantee all work to be carried out in an orderly manner. As also emphasized in the meeting, any faculty, staff or person-in-charge who failed to implement this plan would take the accountability and be punished strictly by the school.

The meeting studied the work plan prepared by the school’s epidemic prevention and control supervision team. As pointed out in the meeting, with the comprehensive advancement of “online work and flexible workingmanner” in the next stage, the flow of people coming in and out of campus will increase; once the new semester commences, all varieties of people will return to school in succession. The school may be confronted with the highest risks and pressure ever since; therefore, we must keep alert to carelessness in work, war-weariness, invulnerability and slack mentality, and should not relax our vigilance just because the emergency response level for epidemic prevention and control has been adjusted from the first-level public health emergency response to the second-level response in Jiangsu Province. As emphasized in the meeting, efforts should be also made to enhance the supervision of epidemic prevention and control, which would represent the school’s further implementation of the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions, the requirements contained in the “Notice on Strengthening the Party’s Leadership and Providing Strong Political Guarantee for Winning the Battle of Epidemic Prevention and Control” as issued by the CPC Central Committee and the “Notice on Implementing the Deployment Requirements of the Party Central Committee and Doing Well in the Prevention and Control of COVID-19” as issued by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. The school should urge all secondary units to seriously implement the important measures of primary responsibility for epidemicprevention and control. All of these efforts will provide a strong guarantee for the school’s epidemic prevention and control in the next stage. Meanwhile, the implementation ofepidemic prevention and control shall be promoted under meticulous supervision in a steady manner.

In the meeting, the participants also listened to the reports from the Academic Affairs Office, the Graduate School and the Students Affairs Office about the online teaching on the first day, which was fully affirmed in the meeting. The Academic Affairs Office and the Graduate School were requested to organize colleges (departments) to analyze all problems available during online teaching for any improvement. Besides, full preparations for high-quality teaching shall be made in the long run; meanwhile, attentions should be paid to introducing excellent practices and experience of online teaching to guide teachers to select more efficient teaching platform and way of teaching, help teachers to improve their online teaching so as to reduce the negative effects of the epidemic on teaching quality to the maximum extent. As also emphasized in the meeting, efforts should be made to enable the students to closely cooperate with the teachers, concern the students remaining in the epidemic-struck regions, enhance the communications with them, guide them psychologically and provide them with more cares. In addition, more attentions should be paid to the students in difficulty of online learning by providing feasible assistance. Meanwhile, key attentions should be paid to the graduation design of undergraduate students by definite requirements and enhanced supervision.

It was requested in the meeting that we should plan as a whole, study the plan to commence the new semester, make corresponding procedure preparations in advance, identify the responsibilities and provide necessary information system support, etc. in combination with the actual characteristics of the school so as to work out a detailed working plan as soon as possible.
