[Southeast University News Network, Feb. 27] (Correspondent: Xu Keqi) On the morning of Feb. 26, accompanied by relevant personnel from the International Cooperation Office, Wang Baoping, Managing Vice President of Southeast University, held a video conference with Kawara Genta,Vice President of Osaka University, Komizo Yu-ichi, Director of East Asian Affairs Center, and Suji Yoshiji, Director of International Affairs Office, etc.. Relevant principals from the Graduate School, the Academic Affairs Office, Wuxi Branch Campus, the School of Biological Science and Medical Engineering, and the School of Information Science and Engineering, etc. participated in the online video conference.
Kawara Genta, first expressed his sincere condolences about the outbreak of COVID-19 in China and affirmed the measures adopted by the Chinese government in response to the epidemic. Wang Baoping expressed his gratitude and the determination to overcome this epidemic under the leadership of the Chinese government.
Afterwards Wang Baoping introduced the cooperation between the two universities. He said that the School of Biomedical Engineering of Southeast University has signed a cooperation agreement with the School of Engineering of Osaka University. At the same time, the School of Information Science and Engineering, the School of Electronic Science and Engineering, the School of Materials Science and Engineering, and the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering would soon sign relevant cooperation agreement with the School of Basic Engineering of Osaka University, expecting to promote and expand comprehensive cooperation between the two universities based on the current cooperation.
Kawara Genta asked in detail about the establishment, management, enrollment and teaching of Southeast University-Monash University Suzhou Joint Graduate School and Southeast University Rennes Graduate School. He expected to conduct joint cultivation of students in reference to the mode of the said two graduate schools. Wang Baoping agreed and welcomed students from Osaka University to study at Southeast University. Teachers from both parties would teach in English, allowing students of the two universities to enhance cultural exchanges, understand each other and increase friendship in the course of learning. Wang Baoping also requested the departments concerned of Southeast University to draft the cooperation agreement as soon as possible. The talks ended in a very friendly atmosphere.
It is reported that Osaka University is the first-ranked research-oriented comprehensive university in Japan, Class A top university ranked in the “Super International University Program” as designated by the Ministry of Education, the top Japanese university in Nature Index 2017 Innovation, and the 71st university in the 2020 QS Ranking in the worldwide area. Zhang Guangjun, President of Southeast University, once visited the school in June 2018, and met with President Shojiro Nishio, and promoted the cooperation between the School of Biomedical Engineering and the School of Engineering of Osaka University.
