[Southeast University News Network, Sep. 26] (Correspondent: Chen Qiuyu, Tuan Xuan; photographer: Qu Gang) In the evening of Sep. 25, the chorus themed “Ode to the Motherland with Youth” organized by Southeast University to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China was convened at Jiaotingbiao Hall, Jiulonghu Campus. Zuo Wei, CPC Secretary of Southeast University, Zheng Jiamao, CPC Deputy Secretary, leaders from relevant functional departments, CPC and political departments of the school attended the activity. This activity was jointly hosted by the Communist Youth League, the Art Guidance Center and the School’s Labor Union, co-hosted by the Communist Youth League of the School ofCivil Engineering and the School of Cyberspace Security. As an important part of the series activities organized by Southeast University for celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, over 3000 teachers and students composing 21 choirs in total participated in the activity.

Before the commencement of the chorus, teachers from the Faculty Choir of Southeast University sang “Azalea” and “Pursuit”. The activity was commenced in the national anthem. The entire chorus was composed of three chapters, specifically speaking, the “Glorious Times”, “Forging Ahead” and “StayingTrue to the Mission”. 19 participating choirs organized by all departments and schools as well as Zhongda Hospital performed classical songs including “My Motherland”, “The Motherland Always in My Heart”, “Folk Song to the Party”, “Love My Country”, “Towards Rejuvenation” and “Homeland Will Never Forget”, etc. respectively. In addition of affectionate songs, teachers and students from different teams also performed the scene play, recitation, dance and hip hop, etc.. The College Students Art Troupe and Choir further performed “China, today is your birthday”.

In the end, upon review by seven experts, two teams from the School of Energy and Environment and Chengxian College won the special award; the School of Computer Science and Engineering, the School of Software, the School of Artificial Intelligence, the teams from the School of Cyberspace Security, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, the School of Bioscience and Medical Engineering, the School of Medicine and the School of Public Health won the first prize; the team from the School of Information Science and Engineering, the School of Humanities, the School of Law, the School of Art, Chien-Shiung Wu College, the School of Mathematics, the School of Foreign Language Studies and the School of Transportation, etc. won the second prize; the teams from the School of Architecture, the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Physics, the School of Materials Science and Engineering, the School of Instrument Science and Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Automation, the Affiliated Zhongda Hospital, the School of Mechanical Engineering and the School of Electronic Science and Engineering won the third prize. Leaders present in the activity presented awards to the winning teams. In the end, leaders including Zuo Wei and Zheng Jiamao, etc. sang the song “Ode to the Motherland” on the stage together with all teachers and students on the site.

It is reported that in order to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, young teachers and students of Southeast University, with the theme of “Ode to the Motherland with Youth” and “Confession to the Motherland with the Youth”, held a series of theme-based activities to stimulate the patriotism of all the young teachers and students, the aspiration of serving the country, and to encourage all the young students to sing the ode to the motherland with youth and express the strongest voice of youth in the new era.
