The Delegation of Southeast University Visited Finland and Sweden

From January 27 to February 2, at the invitation of Aalto University of Finland and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, the delegation under the leadership of Zheng Jiamao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Southeast University, visited the two universities to develop and deepen international cooperation and exchanges between schools. Principals from relevant colleges and departments including the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Energy and Environment, the School of Architecture, the Personnel Department and the International Cooperation Office accompanied during the visit.

During the visit to Aalto University of Finland, Deputy Secretary Zheng Jiamao talked with representatives of Aalto University. During the talks, Deputy Secretary Zheng Jiamao briefly introduced the basic situation of our school. Both parties reached consensus on the following three points during the talks: first, more efforts shall be made to strengthen cooperation from multiple perspectives including academic study, scientific research, students and teachers exchange, discipline competition, etc. between the two universities on the basis of the existing scientific research cooperation; secondly, more efforts shall be made to further consolidate the cooperation between the two universities in such advantageous disciplines as energy and environment, applied physics and architecture, etc.; thirdly, more efforts shall be made to expand the cooperation between the two universities in emerging and popular research fields such as artificial intelligence, etc. Professor Jouko Lampinen, Dean of the School of Science of Aalto University, highly appreciated the School of Artificial Intelligence newly established by Southeast University and expected further cooperation between the two universities. Afterwards, representatives of both parties signed a memorandum of understanding of cooperation. Deputy Secretary Zheng Jiamao awarded the honorary title of “Visiting Professor of Southeast University” to Professor Peter D. Lund, the winner of “Jinling Friendship Award”. The delegation also visited the campus of Aalto University and the Laboratory of Applied Physics of the School of Science, Aalto University.



During the visit of KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Deputy Dean of KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Director of the International Cooperation Office met with the delegation. It is reported that Southeast University has become the university with the most students from China studying at KTH Royal Institute of Technology since 2018. Director of the International Cooperation Office of KTH Royal Institute of Technology reviewed the long history of cooperation and cooperation achievements made by the two universities. Deputy Secretary Zheng Jiamao expressed his gratitude to the host for its great hospitality that the delegation has received and introduced the history and status quo of Southeast University. In response to further cooperation between the two universities in the future, both parties also reached consensus on the following three points: first, more efforts shall be made to expand the exchange and cooperation between the two universities, and expand the 3+2 student exchange programs of the two schools to more subjects; secondly, more efforts shall be made to enrich the form of exchange between the two schools and further improve the number and quality of student exchanges between the two universities. We shall develop the student exchange and cooperation between our Chien-Shiung Wu College, Ding Dajun Class of the School of Civil Engineering with students from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in an all-round manner; besides, we shall organize students of the two universities to participate in the international discipline competition in an overall manner. Thirdly, more efforts shall be made to develop exchanges and all-around corporation in scientific researches between both parties. Both parties will make new breakthroughs in teacher exchange and cooperation in scientific researches, which will in turn promote the development of mutual student exchanges and cooperation so that the cooperation achievements made by both parties can indeed benefit students and teachers of both parties.

After the end of the visit to KTH Royal Institute of Technology, the delegation hosted Southeast University Overseas Talent Recruitment Event in Stockholm, which attracted outstanding talents from all over Sweden to participate in. Deputy Secretary Zheng Jiamao introduced the historical development and basic situation of Southeast University, and also expressed his ardent welcome to top talents to join in Southeast University. Wu Lingyao, Deputy Director of the Personnel Department, introduced the overseas talent introduction policy of Southeast University. The participating talents actively communicated and discussed face-to-face with the delegation of Southeast University. Finally, the overseas talent recruitment event achieved great result.
