SEU and Monash University discussed on deepening cooperation ​President Huang RU Meets with Monash President Margret Gardner

On March 3rd, President Huang RU met via video link with President Margret Gardner from Monash University. Vice Presidents Zhong Wenqi and Jin Shi from SEU, Provost and Senior Vice President Susan Elliot, and Pro-Vice Chancellor Yu Aibing from Monash, and directors of SEU Graduate School, Suzhou Campus Management Committee and International Cooperation Office attended the meeting.

At the beginning, President Huang extended her appreciations to Monash University for its great support for the partnership of the two universities and the Joint Graduate School development.  She noted that this year marks the 120th anniversary of SEU and the 10th anniversary of SEU-Monash cooperation— a year of great significance for both institutions.  She pointed out the two universities have achieved fruitful results over the past decades of collaboration, and should, in future, deepen China-Foreign cooperation in school-running, enhance high-level talent introduction and localization efforts, promote high-end research cooperation, and expand students’ scale. She is supportive of the preparation efforts on SEU-Monash 10th Anniversary Celebration. President Huang said that the resilience of a university would be of great significance and value in promoting international exchanges and cooperation in this challenging time,  and she firmly believed that by working together, SEU and Monash will make further progress in students and staff exchanges, pioneering research and talents cultivation so as to contribute more to the international cooperation and exchanges of higher education between China and Australia.    

President Gardner agreed with Huang’s suggestions. She said that Monash University is always committed to the partnership with SEU. It will further strengthen the teaching staff productivity and Suzhou campus construction, and work alongside SEU to secure a quality collaboration in talent training and academic research.
