The Natatorium Project at Jiulonghu Campus, Southeast University Was Officially Commenced

The commencement ceremony of the natatorium at Jiulonghu Campus, Southeast University was convened in the morning of April 30. The Party and government administrators of the Department of Physical Education, representatives of teachers and students, relevant principals of the Basic Construction Officeand the construction unit, and representatives of relevant units involved in construction attended the ceremony. After the ceremony, Zheng Jiamao, Vice Secretary of CPC of Southeast University, Chief Accountant Ding Hui and Li Xin, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Labor Union, came to the construction site to inspect and guide relevant work, and put forward definite requirements on construction to the construction unit and the supervisor.


[Introduction of the Natatorium at Jiulonghu Campus]


The natatorium is located at the east side of Jiulonghu Campus, adjacent to the East Gate with Taoyuan dormitory to the north, the gymnasium to the south, Jiaotingbiao Hall to the west and the stadium to the east. It is reported that the natatorium is expected to be completed on November 16, 2020 with a construction period of 566 days.

The natatorium consists of 2 floors above ground and 1 underground (including an interlayer for equipment). The total construction area is 5649.03 square meters, including 4601.91 square meters above ground. The building is 11.05 meters in height. Among others, the underground floor is considered as the function room for equipment, the ground floor includes the swimming pool, the men's and women's locker room, the men's and women's shower room, the tool room, the fire control room, the bathroom, the teacher's office and the coffee shop, etc., the second floor is equipped with classrooms, gymnasium, lounge, control room and tool room, etc.. The swimming pool adopts the international standard of 25m*50m pool, available for high-level swimming team training and competition. In addition, the natatorium can accommodate 600-800 people for dressing, shower and swimming in the meantime.

The natatorium adopts the curved shape, which well coordinates with the swimming wave. Meanwhile, the internal structure adopts the reinforced concrete arch structure, which ingeniously combines the architectural shape, internal space and structural form together. It is deemed as an innovative landmark building that can reflect the disciplinary characteristics of civil engineering and architecture of Southeast University.
