Wang Baoping, Executive Vice President of SEU, recently held a video meeting with Jon Frampton, Vice President of University of Birmingham. Leaders from Graduate School, Office of Teaching Affairs, International Cooperation Department, School of Biological Science and Medical Engineering, College of International Students and other related departments of SEU attended the meeting.
At the meeting, both parties first reviewed the progress in their cooperation since 2019 and then exchanged opinions on cooperation during the pandemic, implementation of joint cultivation, establishment of the language center and other topics.
Wang Baoping pointed out that the two universities should give full play to their own advantages and promote their cooperation in the fields of scientific research and talent cultivation, in hopes that more professors from University of Birmingham can be invited to participate in online education. Besides, he also proposed that the two universities should be encouraged to jointly hold academic conferences, actively explore joint training programs and promote the construction of Chinese language center, so as to expand the scope and depth of cooperation through multiple forms and channels for the benefits of both teachers and students.
Jon Frampton, agreed with Wang Baoping's suggestions on cooperation, and said that he would actively promote the future cooperation between the two universities in scientific research, teaching and talent cultivation. Meanwhile, he hoped to take the opportunity of jointly building a language center which may combine language learning with professional courses to lay a solid foundation for the future development of students in both universities.
