Southeast  University  is  one  of  the most prestigious and finest institutions of higher education in China. Its origin can be traced back to 1902, when it was founded as Sanjiang Normal College. Then it evolved as Nanjing Higher Normal School, National Southeast University, National Central University and Nanjing Institute of Technology. In 1988, it was renamed Southeast University. Currently, Southeast University is a national key university directly administered by the Ministry of Education of China. It has become a comprehensive university with a broad range of disciplines including science, engineering, medicine, art, management, and humanities, with a focus on engineering. The university's overall scientific research strength ranks in the forefront of Chinese higher learning institutes. In the past 104 years, more than 250,000 students have been nurtured by Southeast University. Many of these students have become faculty at Southeast University and have grown to be the think tanks and power resources in Chinese education, society, economy and scientific research fields.
