QI Kang

Born in Hangzhou in 1931, he was graduated from the Architecture Department of Nanjing Institute of Technology in 1952. Being an expert in architecture design and theory, city planning and theory, landscape and garden design and architectural drawing, his design works have been awarded the national prize for several times, two of which have been selected in the top ten master designs of China in 1980s. He has held exhibitions of his works in France, Japan, Switzerland, and Canada. Thirteen books and about one hundred treatises written by him have been published. Now he is the director of Research Institute of Architecture of Southeast University, member of Academic Degree Committee of State Council, director of the Chinese Society of Architecture, director of Chinese Society of Urban Science Studies, director and distinguished member of Chinese Society of Urban Planning and senior advisor of China Institute of Urban Planning and Design. Also he is the member of Chinese People’s Consultative Conference. He acquired the first "Liang Si-cheng Architecture Award" in 2000.
