On June 19 and 21, SEU held graduation ceremony and degree awarding ceremony for the 2016 undergraduates respectively at Jiulonghu and Sipailou campuses. School leaders Yi Hong, Zhang Guangjun, Liu Bo, Shen Jiong, Ren Lijian, Ding Hui, Huang Dawei, Wu Gang, assistant president Liu Naifeng and responsible persons of relevant functional departments, relevant schools and departments, the distinguished alumni representatives, representatives of teachers and more than 4000 graduates participated in the activity. Deputy Secretary of the Party committee Zheng Jiamao hosted this activity.
President Zhang Guangjun delivered a speech named New Journey, New Mission. At the beginning, president Zhang congratulated 4014 undergraduates who gained Bachelor’s Degree. President Zhang summarized the history, science and culture that students have learnt from SEU and their contributions for personnel training, scientific and technological innovation, discipline construction, international cooperation, etc. In order to inspire students to grasp the turning point in life, President Zhang asked undergraduates to think about four questions. Do you have a clear and strong goal to lead the future? Do you have unique and innovative wisdom? Can you grasp the spirit of “Strive for Perfection”? Can you maintain the courage to preserve? By citing patriotic poet Ai Qing’s verse and a short essay Miss SEU written by an alumnus on BBS, President Zhang expressed the forever close relationship between SEU and alumni. At last, President Zhang expressed best wishes for the undergraduates and encouraged them to chase after their dreams with the companyof their alma mater.
Distinguished alumni representatives, representatives of teachers and students also made speeches at the ceremony. Certificates of honor have been awarded to the outstanding graduates, the most influential graduates, the teaching assistance group of graduates, as well as national defense students, etc.
On the degree granting ceremony, members of Academic Degree Committee issued the degree certificates for the undergraduates and set the tassels straight for them.
