Professor Richard W. Prager from Cambridge University, Academician of Royal Academy of Engineering Is Employed by Southeast University as Visiting Professor

On May 8, Southeast University held a ceremony at Sipailou Campus to employ Professor Richard W. Prager from the Department of Engineering of Cambridge University, UK, as a visiting professor. President Zhang Guangjun granted the Letter of Employment to Professor Richard W. Prager and wore the school badge for him. Professor Chu Daping from Cambridge University, Researcher Nghia Q. Nguyen, Guo Liangting, General Manager of Nanjing Center of Cambridge University, relevant principals from the School of Bioscience and Medical Engineering and the International Cooperation Office, representatives of teachers and students of Southeast University attended the event.

Zhang Guangjun expressed his welcome to the delegation of Richard W. Prager, expressed his gratitude and congratulations to his employment by Southeast University as a visiting professor. Meanwhile, Zhang Guangjun briefly introduced the academic achievements made by Richard W. Prager, the talent cultivation, discipline construction, scientific research and international cooperation, etc. carried out by Southeast University. In particular, President Zhang further reviewed the construction of Sino-UK University Engineering Education and Research Consortium as a leading Chinese university, the cooperation with Cambridge University, and the promotion of network communication and security, the construction of major scientific and technological infrastructures including the Purple Mountain Laboratory and Biomedical Big Data. Zhang Guangjun expected Richard W. Prager, by reliance on Cambridge University-Nanjing Science and Technology Innovation Center to strengthen diversified industry-university-research cooperation in biomedical engineering with Southeast University, and deem this as a bridge to deepen the cooperation between Southeast University and Cambridge University and actively promote in-depth exchanges between China and UK in scientific and technological research.

Richard W. Prager, in his addressing, appreciated Southeast University for granting this honor of visiting professor to him, and said that he would actively promote exchanges and cooperation between the School of Biological Science and Medical Engineering of Southeast University and the Engineering Department of Cambridge University so as to promote the common development of both schools in the field of biomedical engineering.

It is reported that Richard W. Prager received his Ph.D. in information engineering from Cambridge University in 1987. Then he has been serving Cambridge University as a professor at the Department of Engineering since 2006 and Director of the Department of Engineering since 2018. He is the founder of medical imaging research at the Department of Engineering of Cambridge University and one of the development founders of the free-armed 3D ultrasound system Stradx and Stradwin.
