SEU Vice President Prof. Wang Baoping Visited Britain

From April 25 to 29, the Southeast University delegation consisted of directors of related departments and led by vice president, Prof. Wang Baoping went to Britain and visited Imperial College London, University of Cambridge, University of Birmingham, etc., and attended the first high-level talents exchange meeting between China and UK.

On April 25, vice president Wang Baoping and the delegation visited Imperial College London. Vice president of academic planning Prof. Neil McN Alford, Prof. Andrew S Holmes, and Prof. Tim Green gave a warm reception to the delegation. The two sides introduced the general information of the two universities, the latest development and development strategies, achievements, and had an in-depth discussion about carrying out the joint training of doctoral students through CSC PhD scholarships. Imperial College London welcomes the academic cooperation between scholars of two universities, and will favorably receive SEU doctoral students to do research at Britain.

On April 26, the delegation visited the University of Cambridge, and visited Prof. Chu Daping, director of the Advanced Optoelectronic Center and Photonic Device and Sensor Center of University of Cambridge. Wang Baoping, executive vice president, highly praised Prof. Chu Daping’s contribution to the joint training of doctors with SEU’s School of Electronic Science and Engineering for over 15 years, hoping to further strengthen the cooperation of both sides in scientific research. Later, the delegation visited Prof. Andrea Ferrari, director of Graphene Center of University of Cambridge, and discussed about developing student training and scientific research cooperation in graphene field. During the visit to the University of Cambridge, combining Southeast University’s needs for overseas high-level talents, the delegation held the SEU Cambridge talent recruitment conference and introduced Cambridge students the achievements made by Southeast University in recent years, and sincerely invited them to join the development of SEU and create a brilliant future.

On April 27, the delegation visited Red-brick University, and member of Russell Group, UK-China University Consortium on Engineering Education and Research--University of Birmingham. The delegation visited Institute of Translational Medicine, Computational Biology Center, and met Sir David Eastwood. They discussed with vice president Prof. Jon Frampton and related personnel about building up the joint research center, carrying out students cooperative training project, and the holding of SEU-UoB Day. They reached consensus in several issues and will sign the cooperation agreement in May and June.

On April 28,the delegation attended the first session of the high-level exchange of talents between UK and China.At the round table meeting of the British and Chinese universities,Wang Baoping, executive vice president, introduced the internationalization strategy and development concept of Southeast University, and expressed his sincere desire to work together to meet the challenges of the new era,which was recognized and highly appraised by the representatives of British universities attending the meeting.

During the visit to the UK,the delegation also attended the alumni meeting convened by the British Alumni Association of SoutheastUniversity. Vice presidentWang Baoping introduced the recent developments of SEU, especially the achievements in the Double First-rate construction and discipline assessment by Ministry of Education. He also thanked the British Alumni Associations concern and support for the development of SEU.
