In the morning of April 13, Southeast University unveiled the 60thSports Meeting and the 24th Faculty Sports Meeting at the gymnasium of its Jiulonghu Campus. School leaders including Zuo Wei, Zhang Guangjun, Wang Baoping, Zheng Jiamao, Ren Lijian, Ding Hui, Huang Dawei, Wu Gang, Jin Baosheng and principals from all colleges & departments attended the opening ceremony. Zheng Jiamao, Vice Secretary of School CPC Party Committee presidedover the opening ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, theNational Flag Guard with imposing appearance and the flower procession stepped into the field with great vigor. Under their guidance, over thirty representative processions from all colleges & departments, the school institutions, the library and the logistics department, etc. passed the rostrum in order, which thus kicked off the opening ceremony.
President Zhang Guangjun addressed the opening ceremony on behalf of the university. In his speech, he extended his congratulations to the convening of this sports meeting and his sincere greetings to all students, teachers and staff who would participate in the grant meeting. He pointed out that the sports would not only represent youth, health and vitality, but also undertake the dream of national prosperity and rejuvenation; it has been deemed as one of the significant symbols of modern social civilization and a modernized powerful country. In recent years, the school has been persisting in developing sports as an important part of itssystem of cultivatingtop-ranking innovative talents, considering the first-rate sports culture as an important content of its “Double First-rate” Construction and also the important approach of revitalizing spirit and converging positive attitudes. He said, the annual students’athletic sports meeting would not only function as a great and grand event for the sports undertaking and the university to “set high moral values and cultivate students”, but also a fabulous occasion to represent and review the students’mental outlook and our sports work in a concentrated manner. President Zhang ardently expected all the students and faculty can devote themselves to this sports meeting voluntarily. The last but not the least, President Zhang hoped all of us can integrate the sports motto of “Faster, Higher and Stronger” into our study, work and living for outdoing ourselves and achieving healthy growth, and into the journey of enlisting our school to be the “Double First-rate” university. Let’s strive forward and compose the magnificent writing together for achieving our dream of “1-10-100” as soon as possible and realizing the national dream of “becoming a powerful sports country”.
At the opening ceremony, Managing Vice President Wang Baoping announced the commendation name list of advanced colleges & departments in sports and “Top 10 Athletes” of Southeast University in 2017. Thus ten advanced colleges & departments including the School of Transportation and the School of Humanities, etc. and Wang Mu from the School of Economics & Management, one of the “Top 10 Athletes” were commended. Representatives of the award-winning colleges & departments as well as athletes received the award on stage in order.
Afterwards the athlete representative Li Ningjie and the judge representative Ding Liang took an oath on stage; after the oath, Zuo Wei, Secretary of School CPC Party Committee declared the formal opening of the 60th Athletic Sports Meeting and the 24thFaculty Sports Meeting.
It has been known that a total of 4635 persons participated in the meeting, the most participants over the years. At the opening ceremony, over 30 representative processions from all colleges & departments, the school institutions, the library and the logistic department, etc. passed the rostrum in order with vigorous steps. Besides, Shanghai Jump Rope Skipping team, a fitness Qigong team of 200 persons and a large-sized group calisthenics of 600 persons were invited to perform at the opening ceremony. On the basis of field display added in previous sports meeting, thelaser range finder and the real-time result display screen were also adopted in this sports meeting in accordance with the standards of big events.
