It is the 10th anniversary of the death of Professor Jiang Yongsheng who was a Chinese famous civil engineering educator and the first national famous professor from Southeast University. On October 15th, the Workshop about Professor Jiang Yongsheng's Education Thought and the Signing Ceremony about the Donation of Professor Jiang Yongsheng Award Fund were held in SEU Jiulonghu Campus.
Deputy Secretary Zheng Jiamao delivered a speech on behalf of the university at the Signing Ceremony about the Donation of Professor Jiang Yongsheng Award Fund. He said: Professor Jiang Yongsheng was a pioneer in teaching reform who adhered to the establishment of high moral values and the cultivation of people as the fundamental task of education. Not only was he kind, helpful, careful and responsible to unit and lead us to overcome difficulties and undertake heavy responsibilities, but he also cared for and helped children. He was willing to be the ladder of the growth of young teachers.
Subsequently, Deputy Secretary Zheng Jiamao signed a donation agreement with Professor Qiu Hongxing who is the representative of Jiang Yongsheng's disciples. On the basis of setting up the Jiang Yongsheng Scholarship in 2007, Professor Qiu Hongxing further funded the project on behalf of Mr. Jiang's family, friends and students so as to establish Professor Jiang Yongsheng Award Fund in the Education Foundation of Southeast University with a total amount of 850 thousand yuan.
The Workshop about Professor Jiang Yongsheng's Education Thought was divided into two stages including Guest Report and Exchange Discussion. The participants deeply studied and warmly discussed about Professor Jiang Yongsheng's education thought of adhering to the establishment of high moral values and the cultivation of peoplefrom the aspects of teaching reform and innovation, practice of education thought, talent team construction, administration of the academy and the construction of SEU Jiulonghu Campus. The painstaking spirit of Professor Jiang Yongsheng in the construction of Civil Engineering of Southeast University and his character of perfect-making and social commitment deeply influenced and inspired every one from the university. It is said that Professor Jiang Yongsheng's education thought plays a important role in the sustainable development and innovation of the Chinese civil engineering higher education and the personnel training of Southeast University.
Professor Jiang Yongsheng was a national famous teacher and national outstanding teacher, and the moral construction advanced individual from universities and colleges in Jiangsu. He served as the first president of the School of Civil Engineering of Southeast University, the deputy director of the Teaching Committee of Southeast University, the deputy director of the Guiding Committee of Teaching about Civil Engineering, the deputy director of the Academic Board of the Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education about the structure of concrete and prestressed concrete, the consultant of the Teaching Committee of Southeast University, and the chief engineer at the Construction Headquarters of SEU Jiulonghu Campus.He won one first prize and two second prize about national teaching achievements, and published eleven books or teaching materials.
