SEU Engineering Ranks 23rd In the World, 7th In China according to U.S. News

U.S.News & World Report, a leading U.S.-based publisher of education analysis and rankings, recently unveiled the inaugural Best Global Universities and Subject Rankings.

  

In the 2017 Best Global Universities for Engineering published by U.S. News & World Report, Tsinghua University ranks first. SEU ranks 23rd globally with the total score of 80.1 and 7th in Mainland China(global ranking: Tsinghua University 1st, Zhejiang University 5th, Harbin Institute of Technology 7th, Shanghai Jiao Tong University 9th, Peking University 19th, Huazhong University of Science and Technology 20th). The ranking is the outcome of comprehensive engineering analysis and takes fields such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and civil engineering into consideration.

  

  

  

  

According to the published Best Global Universities for Computer Science, SEU ranks29th in the world with the total score of 75.1 (moving up by 5 positions than 2016) and 5th in Mainland China(global ranking: Tsinghua University 2nd, Huazhong University of Science and Technology 11th, Shanghai Jiao Tong University 13th, Zhejiang University 15th). The ranking is formulated after comprehensive assessment of multi-disciplinary computer science including soft engineering, artificial intelligence theory, programming languages, information systems and information technology.

  

  

  

  

Besides, SEU has another three subjects sprinted into Global 300, separately material science(87th), mathematics(127th) and chemistry(226th). To produce the rankings, which are powered by Thomson Reuters InCitesTM research analytics solutions, U.S. News will use a methodology that focuses on factors that measure research performance. Specifically, the ranking indicators will include those that measure a university's global and regional reputation; academic research performance using bibliometric indicators such as citations and publications; and school-level data on faculty and Ph.D. Graduates.


In the published 2017 Best Global Universities Rankings, there are all together 110 universities in China that are on the shortlist of Global 1000. Among them, SEU ranks 364th in the world, 52nd in Asia(moving up by 1 than 2016) and 17th in Mainland China(moving up by 2 than 2016).
