Speaker:

Samuel Chao Chung Ting was born in Shengzhou, Zhejiang Province on Jan 14, 1957. 1982, he received his B.Sc of geochemistry from Zhejiang University. 1988. Obtained PhD from the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Science.

Ting’s research mainly focuses on the Neogene eolian sediments and ancient climate. He is the current Director-general of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Science. He’s also the vice-president of the Chinese Society for Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry.

On Dec 2005, Ting was elected to be an academician of the Chinese Academy of Science. On Jan 2008, he was pointed to be the vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
